JOURNAL POLICY

Publication Ethics Statement

Journal of Management, Education and Communication (JMEC) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adopts and adapts internationally recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing, particularly the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

This policy applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.

JMEC seeks to ensure that all manuscripts are evaluated and published through a fair, transparent, responsible, and ethical editorial process.

CORE PRINCIPLES

Principles of Publication Ethics

01

Integrity

Maintaining honesty and integrity throughout the research and publication process.

02

Transparency

Providing transparent information about editorial, review, and publication procedures.

03

Fairness

Ensuring manuscripts are evaluated fairly without discrimination or inappropriate influence.

04

Confidentiality

Protecting confidential information obtained during editorial and peer-review processes.

05

Accountability

Taking responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published scholarly record.

06

Correction

Correcting, clarifying, or retracting published content when necessary.

EDITORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been published previously in substantially the same form. All sources, ideas, quotations, data, and materials derived from other works must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

Authorship

Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the research and manuscript. All individuals who meet authorship criteria should be appropriately credited, while individuals who do not meet such criteria should not be listed as authors.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors have approved the manuscript and agree with its submission.

Research Integrity

Authors must report research findings accurately. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, and selective reporting intended to mislead readers are unacceptable.

Duplicate or Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit substantially identical manuscripts simultaneously to more than one journal. Any significant overlap with previously published or submitted work must be disclosed to the editor.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, vulnerable populations, or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.

EDITORIAL INTEGRITY

Responsibilities of Editors

Fair and impartial decisions

Editorial decisions are based on academic quality, relevance, originality, and methodological soundness.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions must not be improperly influenced by commercial, financial, institutional, or personal interests.

Confidentiality

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during review.

Conflict of interest

Editors should withdraw from handling manuscripts when a conflict could compromise impartiality.

Misconduct

Editors must take appropriate action when credible allegations of publication misconduct arise.

Corrections and retractions

Editors are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the published scholarly record.

PEER REVIEW

Responsibilities of Reviewers

01

Confidentiality

Manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or used without authorization.

02

Objectivity

Reviews should be objective, constructive, professional, and supported by appropriate academic reasoning.

03

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should disclose actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.

04

Expertise

Reviewers should accept assignments only when they have sufficient expertise to evaluate the manuscript.

05

Timeliness

Reviewers should complete evaluations within the agreed period or notify the editor if additional time is required.

06

Research Misconduct

Potential plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other ethical concerns should be reported confidentially.

!
RESEARCH INTEGRITY

Plagiarism and Publication Misconduct

JMEC considers plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and manipulation of the peer-review process to be forms of publication misconduct.

Allegations will be assessed fairly and confidentially. Depending on the circumstances, the journal may reject a manuscript, request clarification, issue a correction, publish an expression of concern, retract an article, or take other appropriate action.

DISCLOSURE

Conflicts of Interest

A conflict of interest may arise when personal, professional, financial, institutional, or other interests could influence or appear to influence scholarly judgment.

Disclosure Principle

All relevant conflicts of interest should be disclosed as early as possible. Where a conflict could compromise impartiality, the concerned individual may be removed from the editorial or review process.

RESEARCH ETHICS

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, personal data, vulnerable populations, or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Where applicable, authors should provide information concerning ethical approval, informed consent, protection of participant privacy, and confidentiality.

SCHOLARLY RECORD

Corrections and Retractions

01

Correction

Issued when an error affects a published article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.

02

Expression of Concern

May be issued when significant concerns exist but an investigation has not yet reached a definitive conclusion.

03

Retraction

May be issued when there is clear evidence that published findings are unreliable or affected by serious misconduct.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Complaints and Appeals

JMEC provides mechanisms for authors and other stakeholders to submit complaints or appeals concerning editorial decisions or journal processes.

Complaints should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief or the journal's designated editorial contact. Complaints are handled confidentially, fairly, and as promptly as reasonably possible.

Appeals should provide clear academic or procedural grounds. Editors directly involved in a complaint or conflict should not be responsible for resolving the matter.

AI
EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, attribution, citations, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts when using artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the content and integrity of scholarly work. Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished materials to AI systems where confidentiality or intellectual property may be compromised.

COPE

Commitment to Publication Ethics

JMEC is committed to continuously improving its publication practices and maintaining a trustworthy scholarly record. Where ethical issues arise that are not explicitly addressed in this policy, JMEC may refer to relevant COPE guidelines, flowcharts, and established principles of responsible scholarly publishing.

This policy is adapted from the principles and best practices promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
